Aurangabad, Feb. 11 -- The District Revenue Department has initiated the official process of preparing a list of farmers, who own less than 2 hectares of land, labelled as 'small farmers', official sources said.
The District Collector Uday Chaudhari has passed the order to prepare the said list for free and fair implementation of the 'Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Yojana' scheme under which these farmers will be given Rs 6,000 annually, the sources added.
The tehsildars of nine talukas have been given the deadline of February 15 to finalize the process which will presumably enlist around 5 lakh farmers, the sources concluded.
