Gangtok, June 4 -- Defying adverse weather conditions and a hazardous terrain, the Indian Army on Wednesday intensified the search operation to locate six of its missing persons, including Lt Col Pritpal Singh Sandhu, his wife Squadron Leader Aarti Sandhu (retd), and their daughter Amayra Sandhu, who remain untraced since a massive landslide flattened an army camp at Chaten, Lachen, in North Sikkim on Sunday evening.
Among other missing are Subedar Dharamveer, Naik Sunilal Muchahary and Sepoy Sainudheen PK. The bodies of two other personnel Havaldar Lakhwinder Singh, Lance Naik Munish Thakur and a porter Abhishek Lakhadia were retrieved the following day from the rubble.
