Nagpur, March 19 -- The Indian Army is set to receive the first batch of extended-range Pinaka rockets from a Nagpur-based company on Thursday, sources said.
The rockets, capable of striking targets up to 45 km, successfully cleared proof tests conducted on Wednesday.
The tests involve quality checks on randomly selected rockets from the production batch prior to induction. User trials for the system have already been completed.
This marks the first induction of the extended-range variant of the Pinaka system, an upgrade over the existing version with a range of under 40 km.
Orders for the supply of these rockets have been placed with Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited and Munitions India Limited. Proof testing of the latter's batch is...
