Kolkata, April 18 -- The Kolkata Police's Special Task Force (STF) on Saturday allegedly seized six country-made single-shot handguns from a 43-year-old resident of Nalanda in Bihar.
Police also recovered 14 8mm rounds from the man, who they have identified as Sohail Akhtar. Akhtar was arrested from near the Rajabazar Science College based on a specific intelligence input received by the STF.
According to a senior STF officer, Akhtar failed to produce any valid licenses or permits for the firearms. He has been booked under Sections 25(1B)(a) and 29 of the Arms Act, as well as Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
