Puri, May 9 -- In light of the ongoing conflict with Pakistan, armed police have been deployed to provide round-the-clock security at the Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Puri Superintendent of Police, Vinit Agarwal, informed the media on Friday that armed personnel are patrolling the Parikrama (circumambulatory path) area. Devotees are being frisked and required to pass through metal detector gates before entering the temple premises.
He stated that contingency arrangements are in place and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been placed on high alert. Police are closely monitoring incoming crowds at all entry points to the town.
