Kabul, July 15 -- Unknown armed individuals shot and killed 5 civilians, all members of the same family, in eastern Afghanistan's Ghazni province, a provincial government spokesman confirmed Monday night.
Ezatullah Saeedi, spokesman for the Ghazni governor, said the tragic incident took place in the Tolakhail area of Qara Bagh district when armed assailants entered a residence and opened fire. Five family members were killed on the spot, and another one was injured.
Several suspects have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently under investigation, Saeedi added.
The official pledged to bring those responsible to justice.
