Apollo Hosp creates history, implants India's First SAPIEN 3 Ultra RESILIA Valve on 70-year-old

Chennai, Sept. 4 -- In a major breakthrough in the treatment of Severe Aortic Stenosis,Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, today performed the country's first implantation of the EdwardsSAPIEN 3 Ultra RESILIA transcatheter aortic valve (TAVI) on a 70-year-old patient.

This next-generation valve is designed to last longer and reduce the need for repeatprocedures, transforming outcomes for patients suffering from severe aortic stenosis.

The inaugural procedure was performed by Dr. G. Sengottuvelu, Senior InterventionalCardiologist and Head of Structural Interventions, today, a Apollo Hospitals release said.
