Itanagar, Feb. 20 -- Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday asserted that the state's anti-conversion law, Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, does not target any particular religious group rather it aims to safeguard the indigenous faiths regardless of one's religious affiliation.

Defending his government's latest move to frame rules within six months for the implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (APFRA), 1978, following the Gauhati High Court's directive, Khandu said: "The law is not against any individual or any particular religious community", while requesting people to not misinterpret the legislation.
