Amaravati, Oct. 23 -- The Meteorological Centre today forecast the likely formation of a low-pressure area (LPA) over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal on October 24. The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and become more pronounced over the subsequent 24 hours.

This development follows an upper air cyclonic circulation currently located over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining regions.

The North East Monsoon remains vigorous over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. The MET Centre forecasts heavy to very heavy rain is likely at isolated places in these regions over the next 24 hours.
