Kakinada, July 2 -- The Combined East Godavari Zilla Parishad at its general body meeting here today demanded the Government revive the Drainage Board to modernise the drinking water system and the drainage network.
During the discussion on irrigation, several members raised the issue of irrigation canals getting polluted with letting out of industrial pollutants and human faecal matter.
They expressed the view that the only solution to the perennial problem was restoration of the erstwhile Drainage Board.
Then the ZP chairman Vipparti Venugopalarao moved a resolution seeking revival of the drainage board to modernise the irrigation canals and also the drainage system which was unanimously approved. UNI XC KNR SSP
