Amalapuram, Oct. 8 -- At least six workers were killed and several others were injured, most of them critically, when a massive explosion took place in a firecracker unit at Komaripalem village of Rayavaram mandal in Konaseema district today, authorities said.
Police said the explosion took place when firecrackers were being manufactured at the Lakshmi Ganapathi Grant fireworks unit. Over 40 workers were working at the firecracker unit when the accident took place. Huge stocks of ingredients to make firecrackers, including explosive substances, were stocked in the unit, police said.
