Koppal, Sept. 9 -- Lakshmayya Swami, a spiritual seer from Andhra Pradesh, drowned in the Tungabhadra River near Anegondi yesterday, just hours after recording a video reflecting on the uncertainties of life and expressing his desire to live in harmony with nature.

The incident has shocked devotees and locals alike.

Swami had arrived in Anegondi with friends following a visit to Huligemma Temple in Huligi near Munirabad on September 7. Eyewitnesses stated that Swami entered the river for religious purposes, possibly as part of his routine puja or spiritual rituals. His companions immediately raised an alarm when he appeared to be in distress, prompting locals to rush to his aid.
