Vijayawada, Dec. 12 -- The Andhra Pradesh Government has so far purchased Rs 4,609.98 crore worth paddy produce from the farmers.

In a release here on Thursday, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said that AP is going to create a record in paddy purchasing in the country by procuring a substantial quantity of paddy produce during the kharif season. He announced that the AP government had purchased 1,45,607 Metric Tonnes of paddy produce from the farmers on December 10 itself.

"The government has so far purchased 20,64,673 metric tonnes of paddy produce from 3,24,296 farmers and disbursed Rs 4,609.89 crore. The paddy procurement has been further expedited in the State," the Civil Supplied Minister revealed.
