Vijayawada/New Delhi, May 23 -- In a major step towards democratising access to green energy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday met Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi and submitted a proposal seeking rooftop solar capacity allocations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu urged the Centre to expedite approvals for the proposal submitted by APDISCOMs to MNRE in January 2025, under which 20 lakh SC/ST households will receive free rooftop solar systems, and BC households will receive Rs 10,000/kWp subsidy for up to 2kWp installations.
