Kurnool, July 8 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today released water from the Srisailam reservoir here.

After performing the traditional pooja and harati to the river Krishna, he switched on the motors to lift the crest gates, releasing water downstream to the Nagarjuna Sagar project.

Naidu recalled that from 2014-2019, the TDP government had spent Rs 68,000 crore on irrigation of which Rs 12,500 crore for Rayalaseema alone.

The previous YSRCP led government spent only Rs 2,000 crore, he criticised.

"Immediately after forming the NDA government in 2024, we allocated Rs 3,890 crore for Handri-Neeva and began work. On July 11, pumps will be activated, and water will reach Jeedipalli by the 15th," the Chief Minister n...
