Vijayawada, April 27 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials on Monday to further reduce power purchase costs by the end of the year to Rs 4.60 per unit.

Global innovations in power sector should be studied and adapted where relevant, the Chief Minister said at a meeting with officials to review power consumption, power generation, PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum schemes.

The Chief Minister told the officials to give priority to clean and environment-friendly power generation and directed that by 2028-29, more than half of the state's electricity generation should come from renewable energy sources.
