Nellore, June 5 -- Two agricultural workers were killed and three others critically injured when the auto rickshaw they were riding to a farm field was hit by a car at AS Pet crossroads of Atmakur mandal on Thursday.

Police said that seven agricultural workers were going to Tellapadu village from Venkat Rao Palli village to work at a tobacco field. The auto rickshaw was hit by a speeding car, killing two workers on the spot.

The deceased were identified as auto rickshaw driver D Pulla Reddy (45) and Shaik Azeema (60). After hitting the auto rickshaw, the car veered off the road and overturned in a field. The accident took place when the auto rickshaw was taking a 'U' turn on the road.
