Vijayawada, Sept. 21 -- In a rare incident, an Andhra Pradesh police constable, who saw a group of poor students going on the road without sandals, took them to a nearby footwear shop and bought them footwears.

Police constable Venkataratnam, working in the traffic wing at the Penamaluru police station, near here, on Saturday saw a group of students going home from school barefoot under the scorching sun.

Moved by the plight of the students, he took them to a nearby footwear shop and purchased sandals for them. The joy of the poor students knew no bounds. The entire episode was videographed by a person and posted on social media which went viral and many people appreciated the constable's act.
