AP: Telangana rice exports to Philippines from Kakinada port

Kakinada, March 31 -- Telangana rice exports to Philippines formally commenced from Kakinada port here on Monday.

Telangana Minister for civil supplies N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who landed here by helicopter has flagged off the first shipment of 12,500 metric tonnes into the Vietnamese vessel MV Troned N at a colorful function.

Since Telangana did not have port facility, the KCR government has proposed to have a dry port but did not materialize.

The Telangana government has signed an agreement with the Philippines for supplying 8 lakh MTs of rice from Kakinada port through Telangana state civil supplies corporation.
