Kurnool, Dec. 20 -- A farmer allegedly cultivated ganja crop in his agriculture land at Degulahalu village of Chippagiri mandal and the officials destroyed the crop.

Police said that farmer H Shivaiah raised the ganja plants in his eight acres agriculture field as an intercrop in the red gram crop. The ganja plants rose up to three to four feet.

However, on a tip off, a police team, led by Circle Inspector Ravishankar Reddy, Sub-inspector Satish, Excise Inspector Lalitha and Tahsildar Ijaj Ahmad, conducted a raid on the field. They removed all the ganja plants from the field and shifted to the police station in a tractor. The farmer Shivaiah is at large, police said.
