Kakinada, Feb. 17 -- In response to the union's statewide call, Anganwadi workers in large numbers staged a dharna in front of the ICDS project office here on Monday in support of their demands, mainly hiking wages in proportion to the price rise.
They also raised slogans demanding the implementation of gratuity, conversion of mini Anganwadi centres into main centres, and reduction of workload, besides increasing menu charges.
Addressing the demonstrators, Anganwadi workers and helpers union project unit president A Veeraveni and secretary V Viramani, CITU rural mandal secretary Thottipudi Raja have demanded the government settle the demands of the Anganwadis without further delay or else warned they would launch state wide agitation.
