As part of the action plan, reasons which cause the death of mother and child within one year of birth and flaws in methods the doctors and medical staff follow will be identified. A three-member doctors panel has been set up at the district level to prepare an action plan to rectify flaws and take steps to ensure that they don't recur.

Infant mortality in the state is low. Out of the 19 of every 1,000 newborns who die in the state, 16 die within 28 days of birth. At the national level, 19 out of every 1,000 newborns die within 28 day, the Minister said.
