Shahpur (Kangra), Feb. 24 -- Senior BJP leader and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur on Tuesday called upon the youth to reject drugs and adopt sports as a way of life, asserting that games play a vital role in personality development and nation-building.

He was addressing participants at the First U-21 Youth Volleyball Championship and Mini Half Marathon organised by the Himachal Pradesh State Volleyball Association at Shahpur Ground in Kangra district.

Highlighting the Centre's focus on sports, Thakur said that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, the country's sports budget stood at Rs 800 crore, which has now increased to Rs 3,700 crore, nearly five times higher than during the previous UPA regime. He said the Centr...
