Ghazipur, Dec. 31 -- The Anti-Corruption Organisation team of Varanasi caught a Junior Engineer (JE) and an assistant lineman red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 in the name of providing a tubewell electricity connection, police said on Wednesday.
The arrest took place at the village secretariat of Kusumhikala under Nandganj area on Tuesday. Those arrested have been identified as Junior Engineer Indrajeet Kumar, posted at Sub-Division Nandganj of Electricity Distribution Division-III, and assistant lineman (contractual) Pramod Yadav. After the arrest, both were taken to Nandganj police station, where a case was registered against them.
The Anti-Corruption team later took them along for further legal proceedings.
