Palghar, Dec. 17 -- A panchayat officer from Palghar district was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Pandharinath Sankhe, an officer attached to Navapura Gram Panchayat. The action was carried out by the Palghar unit of the Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau following a complaint lodged by a local resident .

According to the ACB, the complainant had approached Sankhe on October 16, 2020, seeking official permission to develop facilities for agricultural tourism on his privately owned land.
