Mumbai, Nov. 29 -- Tokyo-based filmmaker Anshul Chauhan is set to expand its independent banner, Kowatanda Films, into India with its first project, a horror film titled Nava, starring actress Shweta Tripathi.

Tripathi will both star in the film and produce it through her newly formed company Bandarful Films.

Set in the mystical wetlands of the Sundarbans, Nava follows Tara Sen, who returns to her hometown only to be drawn into a centuries-old mystery involving river gods and long-buried family secrets. The screenplay is by Akash Mohimen, and the film is being positioned as a culturally grounded yet globally appealing horror drama, Variety reported.
