Anisimova stuns Sabalenka to reach maiden Wimbledon final
London, July 10 -- In sweltering conditions reminiscent of the tournament's opening days, No. 13 seed Amanda Anisimova displayed remarkable composure to reach the first Grand Slam final of her career, stunning top seed Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a gripping Wimbledon semifinal that lasted two hours and 37 minutes.
With the win, Anisimova, 23, notched her sixth career victory over a Top 5 opponent - and her first against a reigning World No. 1. Four of those wins have now come against Sabalenka, giving the American a 6-3 edge in their head-to-head rivalry.
