Nagpur, Sept. 10 -- Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh today opposed the state government's decision to extend reservation benefits to the Maratha community under the OBC category through the Hyderabad Gazette government order.
Speaking at press conference here, Deshmukh, a senior leader from Sharad Pawar's faction of the NCP, said he supports Chhagan Bhujbal's stand against the order, stating that it would adversely affect the existing 27 percent reservation available to Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
"We are not against Maratha reservation. But if Kunbi certificates are granted to Marathas through historical records, the OBC quota will be diluted, causing grave injustice," Deshmukh said.
