Rajamahendravaram, Jan. 6 -- Andhra Pradesh Minister for Excise Kollu Ravindra on Tuesday iterated the government's commitment to reduce the consumption of liquor in the State in a phased manner.
Speaking at a review meeting with the excise and prohibition department officials here, Ravindra said a laboratory was set up in Kakinada to conduct 14 types of tests to supply quality liquor to the consumers.
"Firm steps have been taken to curb the consumption of ganja and drugs. The Preventive Detention (PD) Act has been invoked against 14 persons for indulging in brewing country-made liquor. The Naidu-headed government has clubbed the Excise and Prohibition departments to work more diligently," the Minister revealed.
