Kolkata, Jan. 27 -- The West Bengal government on Tuesday announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of each person who died in the devastating fire at Anandapur in East Kolkata.

State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim said the financial assistance would be handed over once the bodies or body parts are identified and death certificates are issued.

Speaking to the media, Hakim said, "The families of the deceased will be given Rs 10 lakh each as financial assistance. The amount will be released after the death certificates are issued.
