Imphal, Nov. 14 -- The All Manipur Working Journalists' union (AMWJU) and the Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) have strongly condemned the reported incident of an attempted abduction of Naharolgi Thoudang Editor Khoiram Loyalakpa by unidentified armed persons near Mantripukhri.
In a joint statement issued today, both organisations described the act as a direct assault on the freedom of the press and a grave threat to the safety and security of journalists performing their professional duties. They asserted that intimidation, coercion, or violence against media persons is unacceptable in a democratic society and must not be tolerated under any circumstance.
