Bengaluru, April 28 -- The Karnataka High Court on Monday granted an interim stay on proceedings initiated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Amnesty International India Pvt Ltd (AIIPL) and its former director, journalist and author Aakar Patel.

The stay is effective until the next date of hearing.

Justice Hemant Chandangoudar issued the interim order after hearing the petitioners' counsel, who argued that a coordinate bench of the court had earlier granted an interim order in a similar case involving one of the accused, G Ananthapadmanabhan, in Criminal Petition.
