Chandigarh, Aug. 25 -- A significant ammonia gas leak at Metro Milk Products in Jalandhar's Surgical Complex this evening led to the evacuation of approximately 30 workers trapped inside the facility.
The incident, reported around 4 pm, sparked a rapid response from local authorities, with fire and rescue teams rushing to the scene to manage the crisis.
Emergency crews successfully evacuated all workers by breaking through a rear wall of the factory and employing cranes to assist in the operation.
The rescued individuals were promptly transported to nearby private hospitals for medical evaluation. No fatalities have been reported, though some workers required urgent care due to exposure to the gas.
