Shimla, Oct. 21 -- The Himachal Pradesh Marketing Board (HPMB) has cancelled the tender for the Rs 75-crore Controlled Atmosphere (CA) store at Parala and the collection center at Khara-Pathar after gross irregularities surfaced in the allotment process.

The Board will now invite fresh bids to ensure transparency.

The state government ordered an inquiry after it was revealed that these government-built cold stores were leased to a Punjab-based firm for 10 years at just Rs 3.36 crore. The issue was also raised by BJP MLA Randhir Sharma in the Monsoon Session of the Assembly, prompting a probe.

Following the preliminary investigation, the Board stopped the allotment and cancelled the tender.
