Guwahati, Aug. 5 -- Following the eviction drives by the Assam Government in certain districts, some vigilante groups have been launched searches for suspected illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
According to reports some vigilante groups have been carrying out search for suspected persons and threatening them to leave the districts immediately. The problem is more in upper Assam districts, also triggering panic among some religious and linguistic minorities living in those districts.
Although the government conducts eviction drives to clear encroachment from government and forest lands, yet series of eviction driver in the last few months have seen eviction of over 50000 people from different areas of the state.
