Mandi/Shimla, Dec. 26 -- Emergency health services were severely disrupted in the state on Friday as ambulance operators and Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) doctors went on 48 hrs and 24-hour strike.
According to CITU state secretary Vijender Mehra, 108/102 operators went on strike over non-payment of minimum wages, overtime, and holidays.
"The Call of strike was given by the ambulance workers' union affiliated with the CITU, began at 12 midnight last night and would continue till Saturday night.""As many as 169 ambulance employees in Mandi district participated in the strike, rendering 50 ambulances and bike ambulance services non-operational across 28 locations." CITU press release said.
