New Delhi/Singapore/Lucknow, Aug. 1 -- Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh died on Saturday afternoon in a Singapore hospital, following prolonged illness. He was 64 and survived by wife Pankaja and daughters Disha and Drishti.

Singh was ill for a very long time and undergoing treatment in a Singapore hospital for several months.

He had earlier suffered kidney failure in 2013. As per sources, Singh had recently undergone a second kidney transplant. Though the transplant was successful, there was a wound in his abdomen, which never healed.

Sources said that Singh's mortal remains were being handed over to his family.
