Prayagraj, Dec. 15 -- Allahabad High Court has dismissed petitions of two absconding accused in the Codeine syrup scandal in Uttar Pradesh.
The court has rejected the petitions of Akhilesh Prakash alias Sintu and Akash Maurya, challenging the FIR registered against them in Jaunpur.
The division bench of Justice Ajay Bhanot and Justice Garima Prasad rejected the petitions of both considering the gravity of the offence on Monday.
The petition was dismissed after the state government's Additional Advocate General, Anoop Trivedi, objected to the demands of the petitioners for quashing of the FIR and stay on their arrest. The accused, who are absconding, had filed a petition seeking quashing of the FIR and stay on their arrest.
