Prayagraj, Dec. 19 -- The Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected the bail plea of Rehan, an associate of accused Maulana Tauqeer Raja, in connection with the 2024 Bareilly riots.

The court said the slogan "Sir Tan Se Juda" (separate head from body) in the 'I Love Mohammed' procession is not only an attempt to incite riots but also a challenge to the government.

The single bench of Justice Arun Kumar Singh Deswal dismissed the bail plea.

An FIR was lodged against Rehan at the Kotwali police station in connection with the Bareilly riots. The case was lodged for inciting riots and raising inflammatory slogans.

The court said the slogan raised by the petitioner was 'Gustakh e Nabi ki Ek Punishment, Sir Tan Se Juda Sir Tan Se Juda'.
