Nahan, June 30 -- In response to a red and orange alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), all government and private educational institutions, including Anganwadis, have been ordered shut in Sirmaur district till today.

District Magistrate Priyanka Verma, who also heads the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), issued an order on June 29 to keep all educational institutions closed as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and the public amid predictions of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

According to the IMD, Sirmaur is likely to witness severe weather conditions with a red alert in place for June 29 and an orange alert for June 30.
