Dharamshala, Jan. 28 -- All Indian nationals, including Rakshit Chauhan of Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, who were stranded aboard the Russia-flagged oil tanker Marinera and detained by the US Coast Guard in the North Atlantic Ocean, have been released safely.

After nearly 20 days of uncertainty and intense mental stress, the long-awaited relief came on Monday evening, at about 8 pm when Rakshit finally spoke to his family over phone.

Rakshit, who works in the Merchant Navy, had last spoken with his family on January 7.

His father, Ranjit Singh Chauhan, said Rakshit had informed the family that he was heading into an icy, signal-free zone and would remain out of contact for nearly two months, apparently to spare them from worry. However, ...
