Chandigarh, Dec. 4 -- Political tensions escalated in Punjab on Thursday after the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, alleging electoral misconduct during the ongoing Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections in Patiala district.
SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal released an audio recording, which he claims captures a conference-call discussion involving senior Patiala police officers, including the SSP and several DSPs. According to Badal, the purported conversation suggests a coordinated plan to obstruct opposition candidates from preventing them from leaving their homes to block access to nomination centres.
