Ranchi, July 19 -- AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto today hit out at the JMM-Congress government, accusing it of intentionally delaying civic polls to deny OBCs reservation.

Citing the Jharkhand High Court's sharp remarks on the poll delay, Mahto said the government has no faith in democratic values and wants to run urban bodies through bureaucrats.

He alleged that the ruling alliance is "finding excuses" to avoid implementing OBC reservation and deliberately holding back the triple test process.

"The High Court had ordered civic polls by January 2024, yet the government hasn't acted. The OBC commission head's post remains vacant for over a year, and the Chief Election Commissioner's post has been empty for four months," Mahto said.
