Raebareli, Dec. 18 -- Police in Raebareli have arrested Divakar Singh, the operator of Ajay Pharma, in connection with the illegal trade of codeine-based cough syrup. He is accused of purchasing around 500,000 to 600,000 bottles of cough syrup, which are suspected to have been used for unlawful purposes, police said on Thursday.
A few days earlier, Drug Inspector Shivendra Pratap Singh had filed a case against Divakar Singh. Following the investigation, the Mill Area police took action and arrested the accused. Police are now examining Divakar Singh's bank accounts to trace financial transactions and identify where the money was transferred.
