Ch. Sambhajinagar, Jan. 13 -- All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi has questioned the role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in India's freedom struggle and accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of misusing historical narratives for political gain ahead of the municipal corporation elections scheduled on January 15.
Addressing a public rally in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Owaisi alleged that the Sangh's founder KB Hedgewar had not been imprisoned for opposing British rule but for supporting the Khilafat movement. He questioned whether any RSS leader had been jailed for actively fighting the British and claimed that the organisation's role in the freedom movement was being misrepresented.
