Akola, Dec. 1 -- Tension has escalated in Akot city of Maharashtra amidst the ongoing Municipal Council elections following a violent attack on the husband of a political candidate. Rajesh Telgote, spouse of the official All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate contesting from Ward No. 15 'A', was assaulted by a group of four to five unidentified persons.

The incident occurred near Ramnarayan Farm on Kalwadi Road, where the assailants attacked Telgote from behind. He sustained serious injuries and was subsequently admitted to the Akot Rural Hospital in a critical condition, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
