Bhubaneswar, Dec. 31 -- Reaffirming its commitment to providing advanced and life-saving medical care, AIIMS Bhubaneswar successfully conducted its first-ever liver transplant on December 20, marking a major milestone in its healthcare journey.
The liver transplant was performed on a 37-year-old man from Pipili in Puri district. The donor was his 30-year-old younger brother, who voluntarily donated a portion of his liver purely out of love and affection, without any financial or material consideration.
Both the recipient and the donor are recovering well, and the donor was discharged earlier this week, AIIMS sources said.
