Chennai, Nov. 22 -- Amid growing speculation over its outreach to the fledgling Tamila Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of actor-politician Vijay for a possible alliance ahead of the ensuing Assembly polls, the Congress, which has suffered a rout in the Bihar polls, today formed a five-member Coordination Committee to begin formal discussions with the alliance parties in the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) in Tamil Nadu.

With the DMK-led alliance appeared definitely formidable as it was in the past having won all the successive elections since 2019 in Tamil Nadu, all the partners in the SPA had been exuding confidence of repeating the success in the 2026 Assembly polls, due in 6-7 months' time, based on the strength of the coalition.
