Guwahati, Aug. 22 -- With the Assam assembly elections round the corner, it's raining schemes for the people of the state.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today inaugurated the largest self-employment generation scheme for women in the state and said if the beneficiaries of the scheme properly utilise the money for income generation, they will be given an amount of Rs. 85000 within the next three years.

The Chief Minister distributed cheques of Rs. 10,000 to each of the over 33000 women members of the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at a function in Ghagrapar under Nalbari district. The women were given Rs. 10000 under the Chief Minister's Women Entrepreneurship Scheme.
