Guwahati, Feb. 17 -- Finance minister Ajanta Neog today tabled the Rs 62,294.78 crore interim budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Assam Assembly, seeking a Vote on Account to meet expenditure for the initial months.

The assembly polls in Assam will be held early this year and the Election Commission of India (ECI) is expected to announce the dates for the assembly elections soon.

"The foundation of the remarkable progress achieved over the last five years rests on prudent fiscal management, improved compliance, and sustained efforts to strengthen the State's own resource mobilisation," said Neog while tabling the interim budget.
